Jefferson Airplane Volunteers 1969, Manifesto della summer of love, contro la guerra, per l'anarchia, per l'ecologia e il peace and love. Una macchina del tempo, ancora oggi, l'umore e i sentimenti di un'intera generazione (non solo statunitense) sono racchiusi in questo disco, come il genio della lampada.
I Jefferson sono un grande gruppo, sotto tutti i punti di vista l'unico motivo per cui non hanno retto il test del tempo, o lo hanno fatto meno di altri gruppi, è dovuto alla profondità con la quale hanno rappresentato, vissuto e descritto il loro tempo e la loro generazione.
Oltre ai Jefferson suonano, tra gli altri, Jerry Garcia (steel guitar), Nicky Hopkins (piano) e David Crosby (mentore). Hopkins è una figura molto particolare nella storia del rock, un pianista session man che ha suonato in un numero incredibile di grandissime canzoni (si va da "Angie" degli Stones a "Imagine" di John Lennon... per vedere la lista completa Hopkins discography). Quasi a rappresentare un "angelo" da studio, ogni qualvolta si è scritta una pagina di musica importante lui c'era.
